Cutty Dark and Scarlet produced a litter of puppies in November. Out of that I kept Valyrie. In the photo below is Valyrie at 4 months old. The photo was shot at Uncle Earl's 2011 in March. I believe her eyes have "a look" that says it all.

Molly, a Scarlet and Patch Puppy

Below is an email letter I recently recieved from Scott Zeringue, thanking me for selling him a puppy a few months ago.

The one thing I want to point out in this letter is how sensitive Scott is to the dogs sensitivity.

Bear in mind that this letter comes to me and the dog is barely 5 months old.

Here is Scott's letter:

Marcus these are some pictures of Molly. I can't thank you enough for selling
me this dog.

The first few weeks she depended on us, now, we depend on her.
At such a young age she has figured out what her duties are around the farm.

She can go from a playful puppy with the kids one minute to a protective
guardian the next if a stranger comes around. She sleeps at the back door
all night and waits for that morning greeting like to say "I watched the
place all night with pride".

She walks us to the car when we leave for work
then goes back by the back door and waits for us in the afternoon. I can't
explain how smart she is.

Everytime she comes across something new, you can almost watch her think about how will this fit into my job around here.

One morning before work she heard me fuss at my 3 boys,
and that afternoon she came met me at the truck with her tail between her legs until I talked to her gently.

It puzzled me at first, but I realized she thought she had did
something wrong. I felt really bad because at barely three months old that
little puppy thought about that all day long.

As a puppy I would put her in my lap to go ride the ATV, now when she wants to ride she climbs on the back rack and barks until someone takes her for a spin. She truly is a wonderful dog.

I have numerous stud dogs which are breeding dogs owned by friends who bought puppies from me years ago and are now coming back to breed those grown up puppies to my new stud dogs.

He is the stud to a new litter with Lulu who is a daughter of Scarlet and Handsome

There are four dark blue leopards with tan trim, males and female.

The four photos below are of a female who is the only flashy, double glass eye, in the litter. She has tan and white trim with blaze face, ring neck, white socks and white tip tail.

Raw beef is what's for supper!

Born February 24, these pups are big headed, broad shoulders, and strong and tough.

One grey leopard male, with a little white trim, and five blue leopards with tan trim on the face and legs.

Eating raw meat 3 or 4 times a week makes for a strong healthy immune system. Raw meat is a dogs natural diet, and primes them to be a blood trail dog, hog dog or cow dog.

Not One Size Fits All

This good looking dog may be just what you
are looking for if you are shopping for show.

But... will you be able to handle him when he grows up
and starts doing what he was bred to do?

He is a working dog!

What is his job?

He was bred to work, and you aren't going to take
that out of him without losing more than you gain.

I have had a lot of people calling me,
trying to find a good dog for a cheap price.

All I have to say to that is: Good Luck!

For the most part, it was not a waste of my time,

because I learned a lot about the fact that there are many people
who think all Catahoulas are the same.

I had to bred a lot of trash and fail,
to find that the good dogs,
almost always come from a foundation bloodline.

The best part about this is that there are no culls and no runts, all these dogs grow up to hunt. The worst part about this is these elite, high performance working dogs have hunt in the genetics and may not be a good pet for the average Catahoula owner hoping to make them into a pet.

They are born to hunt and you will not take that
out of the dog without breaking the dogs spirit.

Just like I tell the hunters who think they will have to train the dog to hunt:

They are born hog dogs or they will never be hog dogs!

Likewise, if you buy a hunting dog and think
you are going to make it into a pet,
you will most likely do more harm than good.

This is why I breed several different bloodlines
and even cross the Catahoula with Cocker Spaniel
to make an easier to handle, pet or blood trail dog dog.

And yes they have all the markings of a Catahoula,
complete with blue eyes and leopard spots,
but a much more easy-going temperment.

OK, so some of my dogs may not fit your service needs,
because they are too smart, fast, gritty, determined,
and active for your need as a casual pet and companion guard dog,
and that is why I have several different bloodlines,
in order to match your level of service.

But, Catahoulas being very intelligent, are very adaptable,
and can make great pets, but you better be ready to go to school,
because they will test you every day!

I have several that came back at about 1 1/2 years old because they were great hunting dogs that were not being properly handled as pets, like Bud below.

And what are they testing you for? To see if you are the boss.

And if you are not, they will control you!

And the best time to bond with them and
establish your authority and dominion is:

the younger, the better.Of course, there is a limit as to how young, is too young. But at about 4 weeks, the mother of these pups is saying;"Take my children,Please!"

To me, dogs are puppies until they are two years old.

And I spend a lot of time with my dogs before they are two.

But, not everone can take their dogs to work like meSimon, on my swamp tour

I don't care if they are finding their own hog at 1 year old,
they are still puppies and I keep them out of harms way,
until they have a reasonable chance of surviving a wild hog in the woods!

What you see in the photo below is where I like for my puppies
to be at about 4-6 months,

After that, I can leave them out of the pen
until they go to the woods about a year later.

So, if you want something like this, which is baying in a pen at 4 months old and finding their own hog at a year old, and you can't afford $1,000-$1,5000

Why aren't you buying this when they are cheap and spend some time with them?

and if you are looking for a good pet/guard dog,
I have that too for a cheaper price than Ruby and Angels puppies.

I still am selling some that start at $100-$200 but call me,

I don't put all my dogs in the websites,and...

I don't sell dogs or puppies by photos alone.

And another thing, I am screening people over the phone and in person,

money alone does not qualify you to own my dogs.

I don't care if you show up at my gate with thousands of dollars in hand,

I am not looking for the right price,
I am not in this for the money,
I am looking for the right people for my dogs
and I will try to make that perfect match happen to the best of my abilities.

Don't go to the Cadilllac dealership and...
expect to drive away with a Volkswagon price.

At two weeks old as usual with Angel's puppies they are huge!

OK, you can fault me either way, but I do what the old timers tell me to.

They are always right!

Last week the price went up on all my dogs. Puppies too.

The old timers fussed at me for trying to help peole by keeping my price low.

I know times are tight for a lot of people right now.

They fussed because they are selling their puppies $800-$1,000 a piece.

I said yes, and mine are not registered, they said:

"Doesn't Matter!"

"People want performance not papers."

"You are not helping people, you are hurting yourself"

"People who don't know your dogs,
think you are like everybody else with a cheap price."

OK, Angel's puppies are now being offered for $500

I have many satisfied customers, and they are offering to tell you about where the puppies are that they bought a year or two ago.

These dogs will be smart, fast, and gritty. If you have never had a Catahoula, I must warn you, they are not for everyone. As a working dog, they can do, but as a pet you need to consider that their working ability is in the genetics, not the training. If you want them for a pet, you need to understand that they need a job too.

I must warn you: Just because you show up with money does not qualify you to buy my dogs.

Patch's puppies are known to dig under, climb over, tear through, and open the latch on gates to get out of kennels.

If you are planning on getting a catahoula as a puppy, buy a heavy duty steel crate NOW, because you are gonna need it before too long!

These dogs become very attached and want to go everywhere you go. If you try to leave them behind, make sure they are tied up or locked down tight.

These dogs also work very well as blood trail dogs for deer hunting.

If you are disappointed losing wounded or dead deer you cannot find, invest in a puppy now for next deer season.

So if you need a cow dog, hog dog, blood trail dog, security, or a pet for your kids give me a call and we can discuss if these pups are a good match for your needs.

Angel and Handsome's New Puppies

Angel and Handsome have a new litter of 7 puppies which are about 1 month old today. Born 7/25/2009 $150-$200

I am presently taking deposits and hoping to fulfill some of the orders that were not met in the last litter.

As I usually do when I have a litter in the summertime, I keep em in a little plastic swimming pool in central air conditioning until I can't take it anymore! And they are starting to scoot around pretty good this last week, so I will be starting them on wet dog food and moving them out any day now. Thank God, it is cooling off some. They are ready to go at the end of August.

We have 2 dark chocolate with tan and blue leopard trim, male and female.

As usual Angel does not produce one runt in the litter.

The New Puppies of 2009

Back in March of this year I needed a puppy pen and it dawned on me that building it attached to the bay pen might be a great way to give the youngsters some entertainment and a good example to follow. Below are the results.

Here is a photo of Toulouse(almost a year old) setting a good example for the puppies who are about 12-14 weeks old.

A couple of weeks later Bijeaux is putting on a very good show and the pups are beginning to want some too.

Well... it wasn't long before I needed to give Simon and Cocoa a shot at having some fun too!

OK, I have been holding out long enough. It is time I release some photos of the pups now about six months old. In the next few weeks I will be posting photos of puppies and started dogs for sale.

Angel and Handsome's Puppies

Ruby is a six year old daughter of Frank and Patch is a seven year old Blair bred great grand son of Bubba. The first time I crossed Patch and Ruby in 2005, produced Angel and Lady as well as a male and female I sent to east Texas with my buddy Clyde Coxie. Clyde called me up and advised me that he was about to give up on catahoulas as hog dogs and wanted to give my dogs a try. I sold him my female pick of the litter and gave him the male pick of the litter black and tan, and warned him not to run too many at one time. It wasn't long before he reported back that they were doing fine as pups and soon after that they were as good as it gets. Early in 2008 the male got killed on a 500 lb boar, and after that the female, as I predicted went on to be an even better hog dog than the male.
